WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY?

The name says it all: I'll be creating a documentary of your family's real life, only with still images instead of video. Like a photojournalist who travels to the corners of the earth to photograph the cultures & customs they encounter, I’ll be your family historian for the day, documenting the routines, quirks, & traditions that make your family who they are.

Whether it's a simple day at home, a special event, or a trip up a mountain, I’ll create artful photos of real moments as they unfold – no posing & no directing. I won't ask you to smile, I'll just ask you to be yourself so that I can capture real smiles {& laughs, & frowns, & tears, &…}.

I want to get to the heart of who your family is, one photo at a time.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

1. You value authenticity over perfection

Documentary photography isn’t about re-creating photos you saw on Pinterest or posing in front of pretty fall leaves in a random field, it’s about the genuine connections between the people in your family and the places that hold true meaning for them.

Your photos won’t be perfect. They’ll be real.

2. You have a sense of humor

If you’re able to laugh hysterically when you look back on frustrating moments – like that time your toddler spilled an entire jug of milk on the carpet or when your two-year-old used the contents of his diaper to create a mural on the living room wall - you’re in the right place.

3. You're super sentimental

When you look back on your photos from your documentary session you won't see matching outfits and generic backdrops, you'll see your life. Your real life. The things the kids loved and loved to do - the way the kids loved you.
